The Algarve Area with its wonderful sunny summers
and its mild winter climate, make it the ideal holiday destination,
Whether sitting having a drink or a coffee in "Ferragudo Square"
or in one of the splendid bars
along the streets, or sitting on the balcony with a nice bottle
of wine. If your into sports, sun bathing or simply relaxing on
the uncrowded golden beaches Ferragudo will suit you down to the
ground.
Ferragudo resides within the
Municipality
of Lagoa, and is one of the last remaining unspoiled fishing villages.
Ferragudo enjoys all the traditions that the Algarve has to offer.
This is a fascinating village of narrow cobbled streets and steps.
Behind the Square in Ferragudo lies a labyrinth of old cobbled alleyways
meandering up the hill to the town's church from where panoramic views
extend over the estuary to the famous 17th century Fort "St. Catarina".
A selection of fine seafood
restaurants
line the Ferragudo harbour front often visited by yachtsmen from all
over the world. Here you can watch the Cheff's prepare the seafood
fresh from the fishermen then cook it on an open BBQ. These restaurants
are situated in an excellent position to sit and enjoy the beautiful
evening sunset over Portimao with a glass of chilled local wine.
Ferragudo
can be described as "the real
Portugal" and
offers a
peaceful haven from the stresses of modern life.
In Ferragudo you are never too far from the warm sandy beaches
sheltered by beautiful cliffs with their famous rock formations,
it's only a five minute walk to the peaceful Angrinha beach and
another 5 minutes stroll to the larger beach of Praia Grande where
you can soak up the sun and enjoy lunch or just a drink at one of
the beach bars. It's only 2km from Portimão, where you can
visit the old town or the shopping precinct with trendy designer
shops, take boat
trips and jeep safaris. Pay a visit to Praia de Rocha where
the clubs and bars stay open to the early hours, and not to mention
the world renowned selection of golf courses, all of which are within
easy reach.
